Capturing unforgettable and memorable events on video or with photos is one of the essential parts of travel but sometimes it needs a helping hand. Imagine shooting selfies with the wet hands while you are cooking…it is not easiest or the most efficient way to document your experiences. We have Yukiko and Kazuo on our team to add professional photographer’s eye and expertise so that our guests can bring home videos and photos for you enjoy for years to come.
Our Japanese cooking classes are all hands-on classes conducted in English which introduces authentic, healthy and delicious Japanese foods. We share not only the recipes but also the information of the materials and the local techniques which are not well known in the western world. Our guests will season and prepare beautiful Japanese dishes from start to finish with one of our expert chefs. After the meal has been prepared, our guests sit down and enjoy the meal which they have created.
The menu rotates by season. Because Japanese culture has been appreciating the beauty of seasonal things very much and we would like to offer an opportunity to experience them fully and holistically. Please check the current menu on our booking page.
For March and April, the workshop offers "Chirashi-sushi", which is a kind of Sushi and the one of the most beloved home cooking. Due to its beautiful colors, it's often eaten in festive occasions such as birthday party, festivals including "Hina-matsuri" in March. "Hina-matsuri" literally means doll festival and is a festival for girls nationwide. Not like Kaisen-don or Sushi bowl, there is no raw materials in "Chirashi-sushi".
We will have fish dumpling and bumboo shoot clear soup topped with "Kinome" herb. Bumboo shoot and "Kinome" herb are perceived as symbol of the coming of spring. Our guests will know the secret of Umami of "Dashi", Japanese soup stock.
The above dishes/photos are actually made and shot in the same studio and the same equipments.
